A Georgia-based automotive and industrial battery manufacturer could resort to mass layoffs at its facilities in Kansas City, Kan., and Salina if it fails to find a buyer.
Exide Technologies, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection May 19, said it could be forced to close the two plants if it’s unable to close a sale. The move would result in laying off nearly 1,000 employees, which would affect 223 employees in KCK and 765 in Salina, KCUR reports.
