City manager: Bidding won't take KCI terminal project off fast track

The suspense won’t last long.

The firm chosen to design, build and privately finance a new single terminal at Kansas City International Airport will be announced before June 28, City Manager Troy Schulte said.

Under a competitive bidding process announced— and actually launched with dissemination of a request for qualifications and proposals (RFQ/P) — on Tuesday, a memorandum of understanding related to the winning proposal is expected to be approved by the City Council by about July 15.

Sprint Corp. has tapped a new agency to lead its media efforts, The Wall Street Journal reports.

The Overland Park-based wireless carrier moved its $700 million business from Publicis Groupe’s Mediavest Spark to Horizon Media.

Payless Shoesource Inc. could be headed for another round of store closures, and one of the stores in jeopardy is in the Kansas City metro.

The Topeka-based retailer released a list of 300 additional stores that may close if negotiations with landlords aren’t successful, the St. Louis Business Journal reports. KC wants to start charging landlords for rental inspections

Kansas City officials want to introduce an ordinance that would require landlords to fund city inspections of their rental properties, The Kansas City Star reports.
